- The first weekend of every September has always been a long weekend since the creation of Labor Day in 1882 - a holiday that offers a well-needed break to all our busy lives.

Did you know that the United States and Canada are the only two countries in the world to have their Labor Day in September? Everywhere else in the world, “International Workers' Day” (also known as May Day) is celebrated at the beginning of May. Furthermore the customs and traditions of this holiday differ by country. Here are a few interesting examples:

- In China, the commemoration used to be a week long holiday where many workers would travel to their hometowns far away to visit their families and relatives.
- In France, individuals offer Lilies of the Valley to people they love to bless them with good luck and happiness.
- In Germany, the custom is to say "Tanz in den Mai!" ("Dance into May!") and to enjoy this day with parties or outdoor activities.

How will you be celebrating this Labor Day weekend?

No matter what you decide to do, the team here at Communicaid would like to wish you a Happy Labor Day!
